Diriyah Gate Development Authority Earns US Green Building Council Sustainability Certification
RIYADH: The first phase of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority master plan has received platinum-level pre-certification for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” by the US Green Building Council.
LEED certification is generally granted for projects that work with a framework for healthy, efficient and economical green buildings, according to a press release.
The Diriyah Gate development project targeted certification at both building and city level.
Diriyah has also enrolled in MOSTADAM, Saudi Arabia’s own sustainable development program which aims to improve the quality of life for all Saudis by 2030.
“I am delighted that our efforts have been recognized by LEED pre-certification, as climate and nature considerations are central to our development,” said Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of DGDA Group.
He added: “Diriyah is the ultimate wellspring and source of a civilization, and our enduring approach, rooted in respect for the city’s past and origins, has now been authenticated by this major distinction and point of proof.
